Can provide an update on this.
Rakuten have done a good job to allow for the funding of child accounts. When I clicked through my daughter’s account to add funds, I was presented with the option to either add from her own bank account, or from mine as her parent. After that, it was the same process as for funding my own rakuten shoken account.
Shame there is no nisa option for my daughter, but at least I can start investing in her behalf now so that she can see the effects of long-term investing when she gets a little older.
