Social harm is a bir of a nebulous concept. Lots of ethical funds won't invest in fossil fuels, but without coal, oil and gas most of the worlds population would be plunged into poverty. Some people think weapons producers are immoral but we we have Russia and China is having a means of self-defense amoral? Personally I enjoy a glass of beer and sometimes a whisky but are alcohol companies wrong? How about pork or palm oil?

I'm not a big fan of "ESG" investing as most funds practise it.

It's a personal decision.

My own take on this is that it is very difficult to find funds that accurately reflect my wishes, so I invest in broad based index funds and use some of the profits to donate to charities and groups that support my views.

Others will make different decisions.

I generally agree with what was said here.

I DO like the approach of the S&P500 tracker VOTE.

Rather than excluding companies that need to change, VOTE works to change them. This strategy is based on:

Votes we cast: Focus companies and leadership teams on strategically important business areas including governance and material data.
Campaigns we run: Actively work with companies to strengthen the investments they make in stakeholders to drive company performance.
Investors we bring with us: Build a platform to better serve investors’ long-term interests, enabling them to be part of our mission to drive better governance and outcomes at the biggest companies.
There shouldn’t be a trade-off between investing for the long-term and holding companies accountable. VOTE gives investors a new opportunity to drive positive impact as engaged
