  • What is your step by step "just do this and don't worry about anything else" plan for new investors
  • What do you wish people could unlearn about investing
  • What is your biggest challenge when trying to help people
Great, thanks!

2 How important is keeping cash in different currencies, especially if you live here and plan to retire here?

3 How complicated is the process in Japan to declare inherited overseas money/property?
4 And where is the best place to get official advice on the taxes involved?
That first question could be a whole series of videos on its own ;)

Thanks!

You may have too many questions already, if not here's mine:

There are obviously some good things about early (semi-)retirement such as greater freedom, and some bad things such as lack of regular income. But is there anything about it good or bad that has surprised you so far?

Thanks :)

This has come up a few times on the blog, which I have found very interesting. How expat/non-Japanese retirees are financing their retirements in Japan? state and private pensions, annuities, dividends, interest, rentals or drawing down on capital. It is one of those questions like asking someone's salary that you are just unwilling to ask. A few people have voluntarily offered a financial profile of their retirement.

I work with quite a few 65+ teachers at university part time. About half of them, it is because they have to work for the money, and the other half, it is to keep them socially and mentally active.

Housing: Why is it so difficult to find a rental in Japan as a foreigner (race), and mortgages as a retiree (age).

Any suggestions for dealing with the bus factor? For both personal finances, and for Retire Japan itself.
