Is there any other demerit to these kinds of life insurance to keep mind on?
You will be paying more, for a lot less....
These products are for those who have 0 risk tolerance for investing or special circumstances.

Is term-life insurance the way to go?
For almost everyone. However, if you are the only breadwinner and you have many deponents, it would be reasonable to get more insurance, including unemployment insurance if you can find a reasonable policy with decent terms.
What is "term-life insurance" in Japanese?
What is the other type called in Japanese....the one with investing involved as well?

In an effort to scare more people into buying whole life insurance.

I bought it once, Axa (wife was anxious) but then started to learn about investing and found it is not a good investment. Portion of payments with gets invested was too small, don't remember exactly how much. Agent said you can get up to 100% back after 10 years under annual RoE of 7% iirc.
He also said that money savvy people would buy regular insurance and invest separately. At that time I didn't want to think about it so I spent 180,000 yen on it before I figured it out and cancelled the plan.
Actually is it worth to consider up to amount for which you get tax exemptions? Insurance part will be probably too low but a little more retirement money in addition to IDECO.
