so, rounding, if I buy $100.00 using ¥13,500 , and I immediately revert back to JPY I would get ¥10,125 ?
$100 costs ¥25 so it would cost you ¥50 for the round trip, plus whatever the exchange rate spread is.

I realized that not long after posting my reaction... and I have actually been wanting to come here and correct me ever since.

do I get it right this time, saying that the fees are more like 0.19% ?

The fees are really small.
Relevant if you are trying to do day-trading, but for buy-and-hold investments, I wouldn't worry about a couple of hundred yen.
Aiming to retire at 60 and live for a while longer. 95% index funds (eMaxis Slim etc), 5% Japanese dividend stocks.

so, on the same topic.. in Rakuten Securities, what is the difference in between buying USD from here:
