They are making it "slightly" easier for people to come in now.

But is this also the case for visitors? I wasn't sure on that point.
QUICK EDIT:
The JT article seems to imply visitors.

But getting the visa (for non-residents) still sounds like a hassle.

I wouldn't rely on that. Official source: https://www.mhlw.go.jp/content/000980075.pdf (via https://www.mhlw.go.jp/stf/covid-19/bordercontrol.html)
It seems to apply to all travellers (全ての帰国者・入国者) from countries where Omicron is dominant.
disclaimer: I've not read the whole thing in detail!

the family visa thing is actually quite easy to do -but you do have to pay 20quid and go to the embassy or consulate...gnakarmi wrote: ↑Thu Aug 25, 2022 4:49 amYeah, looks like this is true for anyone coming into Japan.Moneymatters wrote: ↑Thu Aug 25, 2022 4:24 amI know this is the case for Residents that are returning.gnakarmi wrote: ↑Wed Aug 24, 2022 6:20 am They are making it "slightly" easier for people to come in now.
