So now we have found a way to "buy inflation" in dollars (US I bonds).
But is there a way to do the same thing with yen in Japan? I searched the internet and found few government websites that had esoteric mentions of buying Japanese government bonds directly at some sort of "Dutch auction" but did not mention the actual interest returns. I guess a Japanese version, which has the similar returns to US Treasury I bonds, does not exist for the general public?

Re: US treasury I bonds
Thanks for the link, but the bonds on offer here don’t seem to be tied to the CPI like US I Bonds (only .05% on a Japanese five year fixed? Ooof!)
I was just reading that, according to the Japanese government the, CPI is only around 2%. Seems a bit low to me. Perhaps they use a different kind of measuring stick or maybe it will be updated in the future? Even at 2%+ not sure how enthusiastic I would be to buy.

You will not find anything comparable to i-bonds. Especially not in Japan.Gulliver wrote: ↑Thu Jun 09, 2022 8:39 amThanks for the link, but the bonds on offer here don’t seem to be tied to the CPI like US I Bonds (only .05% on a Japanese five year fixed? Ooof!)

No free lunches sadly.
