So if my company had 5 full time employees, then the boss would have to do shakai hoken/kosei nenkin?

Technically I believe so. But enforcement is weak and there are loopholes, which is why Interac and similar companies get away with it.

All forms of corporation except sole proprietorships are required to join, it seems.
Also, the law has been changed so that part-time workers at
larger firms have to be covered by shakai hoken in the future as well.
