Been running the above recommended Mitsubishi unit and it certainly is working. Think the house is too large for one unit though.
The analogue hygrometer I have seems to be about 10% out. Once I got the dehumidifier running it was saying 68% humidity vs the hygrometer's 60%. Explains the mold growth.

I use one made by the company Corona. If you are going to be gone, you can just put it on your kitchen counter and have the drain hose run into the sink.

I have a 2 year-old version of the Mitsubishi model. In my case, the small hygrometers I have consistently show 10% more than what the Mitsubishi dehumidifier shows, so the opposite of yours. I am still not sure which one to trust!
But I can definitely recommend the dehumidifier, works wonders.
