Is it possible/worth go through MUFJ instead of going with a broker ?
Yes and no :) eMaxis is managed by UFJ Mitsubishi Kokusai Asset Management, which is different from their banking branch.
You can buy eMaxi Slim over a normal fund investment (which can be managed through a standard bank account) or kabu.com, which UFJ is using for stock purchases in Japan. But you can't buy eMaxi slim funds with UFJs iDeco or Tsumitate Nisa.

Right now stocks are low and I would like to jump in soon
I would write a reply with any questions you are not clear about. There were so many in the thread and many of them have been answered :)

I Completely agree, I started the post with detailed question, I should keep that way.

Since the eMAXIS Slim 米国株式(S&P500)is managed by MUFJ I was wondering if it is possible to buy through MUFJ directly.
so I followed these steps

https://www.bk.mufg.jp/tameru/toushin/index.html

https://direct.s.bk.mufg.jp/qd/99k01f20200401.pdf

It seems possible to open NISA online through them and I assume by that way that it is possible to buy.

Now the questions

1) I have already my salary account with MUFJ, can I directly use that money for buying ? (I can not translate these pages)
2) I can not find the related fees for each transaction, if someone can help

Yes, once the application process is finished you can buy the funds directly (option 1) from your account or you can also do a setup for investing an amount per month (option 3). You have to confirm several times that you are aware of all the risks, and give information about your investment profile:

(投資信託->ファンドを購入->
then
1投資信託の購入
2投資信託の購入+円定期預金金利優遇(ウェルカム・セレクション)
3継続購入プラン (投信つみたて)

then select the fond, the confirm and give information about your investment profile

then select from which UFJ account you want to use for the purchase

then you can select between an 一般口座 or a 特定口座 (if you have NISA, a NISA option will probably appear here), the amount and if you want to keep dividends (分配金を受け取る) or reinvest them (分配金を再投資する).

The periodically investing is slightly more complicated in setup, but in principle similar.

For the eMaxi Slim funds, there are no fees for purchasing and selling them, for others they are listed prominently in the fund selection screen.

As mentioned before, you cant buy eMaxi Slim in UFJs tsumitate Nisa:

To elaborate on what mule96 wrote.

MUFJ is a massive conglomerate. You have a bank account with MUFJ Bank. MUFJ Bank is completely seperate from MUFJ International Investments (besides the common owner).

eMaxis products are created by MUFJ International Investments, but they are traded at banks and brokerages like any other investment product. It doesn't matter which brokerage you buy them from. MUFJ Bank sells MUFJ Investment products, but so do many other banks/brokers, including Rakuten. Even if you buy it through MUFJ Bank, you are not buying it "directly", you are buying it via MUFJ Bank as an agent, just like if you'd bought it from Rakuten Securities. So, if you're commited to Rakuten, may as well just buy it with Rakuten.

Thanks mule96, I am not planning to use tsumitate NISA, my goal is to invest as much as I can.

Thanks Adamu, the idea was to reduce fees as much as possible for this fund and probably use Rakuten for other ETFs/stocks.
I will probably post similar question when I start the Rakuten process

What I'm saying is that using MUFJ Bank to buy MUFJ products will probably cost you more than using Rakuten to buy MUFJ products.

You will make more money if you use Tsumitate NISA and a taxable account, rather than just a taxable account, because you will pay less tax.

Adamu is absolutely right here.

The flow for most people should be.

1st iDeco - > 2nd NISA ->3rd Taxable

If you are looking for to invest large sums you might consider the standard NISA over Tsumitate.
