The ticker for the NASDAQ. The ETF you listed tracks the Nasdaq, but it is leverage and extremely risky.
QQQ = the NASDAQ? Above you wrote "QQQ tracks the NASDAQ...". So that's like saying "NASDAQ tracks the NASDAQ...". Sorry, I don't follow. I'll take your word on the riskiness; I am no expert on these matters. Thanks for the heads-up.
Sorry, I was not clear.

The Nasdaq (QQQ) track 100 funds, it is very tech heavy
The 大和-iFreeレバレッジ NASDAQ100 tracks QQQ, BUT it is leverage, which means it will will preform double or tripple what QQQ does in a single day.

Either UP or Down....

It is leverage with OPTIONS contracts and is extremely risky. It is designed to be held for a day or so at most. It rebalances every single day.

Do not touch it...

Okay, thanks again!

Kanto - I noticed at the bottom of your replies it says you have 2 x NISA and 2 x iDeCo. Can anyone set up two of these accounts each? I thought it was just limited to one per person....

QQQ tracks the NASDAQ, the NASDAQ is not a diversified index fund it is very tech-heavy.

When the NASDAQ crashes...it REALLY crashes. Have a look at this chart.
What is "QQQ"?
The ticker for the NASDAQ. The ETF you listed tracks the Nasdaq, but it is leverage and extremely risky.
QQQ doesn't exactly match the NASDAQ. It is an ETF of 100 stocks in the NASDAQ and has special rules which eliminate financial stocks from its selection criteria.
https://www.etf.com/QQQ#overview

That big drop after the dot-com crash around 2000 where the NASDAQ fell from 5000 and didn't recover for around 15 years is however also matched by QQQ which started in 1999 near the peak of the NASDAQ tech bubble.

Those represent my wife's accounts! We tend to think of ourselves as one financial unit. :)

You cannot have joint accounts in Japan, but we share one Moneytree account with all of our bank account and credit card information entered. It makes things far simpler.

Thank you for the correction! However, I think the advice remains the same.

The Nasdaq, and QQQ are not diversified enough, and leverage funds are incredibly dangerous hedging instruments.

They do look so tempting in a bull market though...

I know it will sound a little bit harsh, but please go and read some book about investments for novices (the books listed on this site are very good).

I'm saying that because I had the very same question when I started investing earlier this year, and instead of going for an index fund, I ended blindly buying like 300k yen among the three first funds on the MUFG Bank ranking (just because they had the best returns last year).

- グローバル・フィンテック株式ファンド
- netWIN GSテクノロジー株式ファンド Bコース(為替ヘッジなし)
- 東京海上・ジャパン・オーナーズ株式オープン

Rookie mistake... Not only I just looked at the ranking, but I completely ignored the costs (these cost like 2% a year and also had some costs upfront, if I remember well).
(This was before finding this site, though.)

To be fair, I'm lucky that they kept giving good results up to now, so all for all I have not lost money (even made a somewhat good profit), but I'm selling them out on my rebalancing this year to put on the eMaxis Slim for my NISA next year.

Glad to hear you didn't get burned!
This web forum has been a God send for me.
