I got this error on my SBI account on Friday at the US market open, and again today, when I tried to place an order for some stocks on the NYSE.

Just to see if it was a one-off, I tried to place orders on a few different stocks, but no luck. Before I call them up tomorrow I just wanted to check and see if any else has experienced the same message and if there is a quick fix that I can do myself. (FYI: it's the first time I've seen that error message, my account has the necessary funds, and I've placed hundreds of orders in the same way before, so I'm not sure why it's happening).
Thank you.
Trouble with SBI orders
Re: Trouble with SBI orders
I am not sure if this applies to what happened last Friday but today when I tried to place a similar order for a US security through Nomura I got that message and when I called to find out why they said it was because the US market is closed on March 25 (the Memorial Day holiday).deepdishj wrote: ↑Mon May 25, 2020 8:11 am I got this error on my SBI account on Friday at the US market open, and again today, when I tried to place an order for some stocks on the NYSE.

Re: Trouble with SBI orders
That had crossed my mind. But I've set orders before (including this year) when the NYSE had a holiday. I've also set orders for a few weeks in advance. But, perhaps they've changed their system? I guess I'll find out tomorrow.
Re: Trouble with SBI orders
Make sure you've read and confirmed all the notices that show up just after you log in. If you don't agree to some of them, they stop you trading until you do.
Re: Trouble with SBI orders
So it turns out my account was suspended because I didn't mail in a copy of my gaijin card and fill out the form regarding my investing history and financial status that was mailed to me in January. I remember taking a look at it and thinking it was a bit unnecessary as they already had that info when I set up the account. And then forgot about it.
But there you go. Suspended until I send that in and it gets processed.
