Transfer assets between brokers without selling

Post by meo92 »

After a particularly poor experience with SBI I would like to transfer all of my investments to another broker (without selling and incurring transaction fees etc.) I currently hold an iDeco, a couple of years of NISAs, and some investments in a taxable account.

I cannot really find any information on the process on how to do this. Is this something that exists in Japan? How long does it typically take for the process to conclude?

Sorry, i can't help with your query, but do you mind if I ask what was so poor about SBI? I am with them and so things like this worry me!

It doesn't seem possible for NISA according to this:

For normal stocks its described here (It is free on their side, you can only transfer within Japan, but Japanese stocks is again a different way)):

For Ideco i think its possible, but the process has to be started at the new provider. As the available funds are different per provider, I am pretty sure that in any case, it will be a sell of the current funds and the amount for your account gets transferred to the new Ideco provider.
