Is anyone following this? The government is trying to encourage more people to apply for My Number IDs by creating benefits for them such as a point system and the use of the Ny Number Card as an IC card. What are your thoughts? If done correctly could be the one card to rule them all, but then the government has (more of) your data.

Re: My Number Card Points System
I've dealt with deducting medical expenses at tax time--having saved receipts, and then logging those items into a simple spreadsheet (along with reimbursements) to get the totals, etc.
If that were 'automated', like if you could get a 'gensen'-like slip for the year's medical bills, it would be wonderful. Paste that slip onto the tax form as with those other slips, after making sure the numbers were in the right places.
This past year the NTA didn't want to take my receipts/bills for 2018, and said to keep them just in case. So they may already be moving in that direction. (Keeping all those billing records on file for taxpayers is a challenge in itself--space, and working hours needed to manage it all.)
