I have a few questions and thought someone here might be able to help.
I am in Japan and need to get a certified cheque to send to America to pay for a used vehicle.
1. Does anyone have any experience sending money this way?
2. What is a certified cheque called in Japanese? (保証小切手?)
3. Where can I get one (in Japan)?

Could you not send the money directly using (say) TransferWise?
Could you send the money to a US bank and get them to issue the certified cheque?

Thanks for the reply.
The amount seems too large for Transferwise. I have never used the service, but from what I can tell it needs to be less than 1 million yen. I need to send $15,000.
I believe it is possible to get a certified cheque in Japan, I just don't know what they are called here or where to get them.
