Data-free mobile plans

Post by nairulando »

Anyone know of any data-free mobile plans? I got inspired by the Living without mobile data in Japan article posted a while back and I'd like to give it a go.

Not familiar with data-free mobile plans. Do you mean some plans where they don't count certain things against your data limit?

Or do you mean plans that only include voice calling and nothing else?

I'm not aware of any plans that don't include data, but it's been a while since I looked. I suspect even if they exist, they won't be any cheaper.

Anyway, data is only the symptom. The cause is your smartphone. ;-)

Being a cheapskate, relatively old and never a smartphone user, and accustomed to pay as you go in the UK, I have looked into this. The only voice and text deal I found was with Mobal. Not sure if it’s OK to post company links on here so I won’t but am sure you can find it. Being lazy as well as old and stingy, I haven’t got around to doing anything about it yet so can’t say if they are any good. It’s only 1000yen a month though (not including call and text charges) so pretty cheap comparatively speaking.

Posting links is totally fine, unless they are your own products or affiliate links (there is a separate forum for that). Basically don't be a spammer and it's all good :)

Why not just go for a cheap MVNO?
