Looking for Investment Fund Management Company suggestions

Post by Herbert »

Does anyone know of any well established investment fund management companies in Japan, who provide service in English and have the option of ethical investment?

And if there aren’t any that meet both those requirements, then any that meet either of those requirements?

I am not aware of any company I would recommend. Generally we advise learning a bit about investing and doing it yourself.

Buying index funds is fairly simple once you understand a few key principles.

Anyone else?

Yes, I vote for this for sure. The problem I've been having is finding a company with English language interface that will take my business as Japan-resident Brit. I followed solutions mentioned in other threads but still haven't had any success.

I suggest that if you're considering retiring in Japan, learning to do it in Japanese will solve many of your problems. The language is probably a compatible investment to your retirement fund, in terms of future quality of life, and it's better in terms of immediate payoff.

Haha .. you're probably right. However despite 1000+ hours of study over the years it took me a good few minutes yesterday to remember the word for 'pumpkin' 😁

While I agree that learning every day Japanese pays off dividends in quality of life while living here, in this era of machine learning and auto translation software, learning sophisticated investment Japanese (or other specialized Japanese) is not really worth the time unless you need it for work. Even now, turning on google instant translation on a Japanese investment site will get you 80-90% of the way there. I imagine if a few short years, those translations will be essentially perfect.

No worries, pumpkin is unlikely to come up in investment fund literature. :)
