Beware of Fraud

Post by runmanTX »

Just a note of warning. One of my Japanese friends was scammed recently. Apparently his stock in SBI Holdings was stolen and sold off. Not so sure of the details but he could not transfer his stock to his bank either.

By coincidence, today a got a mysterious SNS message from SBI Securities requesting me to clink on a link to verify information. Needless to say, I didn't. So be careful of fraudsters, folks.

If you get any kind of strange approach over the phone or SNS, etc., immediately discontinue interaction and call the institution on a known good number to continue.

If the party is legit, they will not mind if you call them back to confirm. If they are not legit, they will protest...
