Hi fellow financial responsibiliteers,
Does anyone use TradeStation for international investments? If so, do you have any good or bad experiences or information to share?
I currently use SBI証券 for my long-term buy-and-hold investments (Vanguard index funds, a couple of low-teen Japanese mutual funds and REITs, etc.) but since I am migrating overseas next year for good, will have to close the account and move my money elsewhere.
There are no discount/online brokers in the country I'm moving to. The cheapest I found was 65 dollars per trade and most places have limited access to international markets.
I'm looking at TradeStation because it has the simplest package ($5/trade plan which is basically what I pay now with SBI). I'm not an American citizen and understand I'll need to figure out my own tax reporting, pay international transfer fees to get the money into TS in the first place, etc. I'm only planning to deposit a chunk of cash day once per year and then make stock purchases every couple of months. I'll be over the minimum requirements to avoid the account keeping fee, but if I opened an account with Interactive Brokers, say, I might not be.
The other point in favour of TS is that they have a Japanese parent company. That's not a "and therefore I trust them implicitly" comment, just that I have at least some familiarity with how they have to operate.
If you use TS or have in the past and there is anything you think I should know, however minor, please tell me.
Experiences with TradeStation (Monex subsidiary)?
Re: Experiences with TradeStation (Monex subsidiary)?
Works well for me, the main advantage is the ability to use the English iOS app linked to my Monex account.
I could do it in Japanese but it's nice to 100% understand what you are doing when shuffling large amounts of money about.
