JIS&T - How to Select Products for Portfolio

Post by Broddiem »

Hello,

Can you advise on how to select ideco products to fill out one's portfolio using exclusively the JIS&T website? I can't use Rakuten until they approve my account application, and if I don't select the products by April 8th, they will automatically choose them for me!

Thank you.

This doesn't sound right.
I don't believe they offer products directly. It is all through their 'partner' brokers such as Rakuten, isn't it?

Usually I think that you’re supposed to invest in iDeCo through your brokerage. But I see in my JIS&T site that there is a menu item for setting up the investment products you want to buy.

So if you have a username and login password already for JIS&T I suppose it might be possible to set up your desired investments. It sounds a bit strange though, in any case…

Yes, that's the menu I have access to. That and a listing of information pages for each product. The info is limted. See screenshots.

I think that you probably need to enter xx% beside each mutual fund that you want to accumulate in your iDeCo account. I assume that if you click on a fund name in the first list of funds, it will take you to each fund's prospectus which will have info on the expense ratio etc.

What are you talking about here? Can you link to it? Like beanhead said, something doesn't sound right.

Looks like there's a default choice called "指定運用方法".

TIL. Here's the Rakuten version - it invests in 楽天・インデックス・バランス(DC年金).

Ah, that's not a bad choice. A 50:50 balanced wrap fund of Vanguard VT and a yen hedged version of Vanguard BNDW is what I'd probably choose if I was on Rakuten... ;-)
