SBI ideco advice for reallocating

Post by ghodlin »

Hi. Any experienced users of SBI ideco original plan?
I checked my allocation and remembered that 80% of monthly contribution is for UD indexes. These have been taking a battering. I’m looking to reallocate into a more balanced global index, like emaxis slim all country, But that’s not available and I’m not familiar with the ones available.

I’d to shift away from US, go global and keep fees down.

Any recommendations for ones with solid record over last 5 years and that are weathering the storm ok?

Thanks!

Probably best to switch to the select plan.

That means starting over and i’m pretty locked in on this one. Just not sure which of the global + JP and global only funds have good record/low fees. I can research but also hoping to get some more anecdotal tips here.

You don't have to start over, it takes a couple of months to switch then you can relocate all your money to the better funds in the select plan.

My wife did this a couple of years ago.

Why not post details of any global funds available with your iDeCo? I'm sure there is something similar to eMaxis All Country.

You are at 80% in the US market, although some people I know in Japan have been putting 100% of their assets in the S and P 500. This is despite the historically weak yen against the dollar and US stocks being double other global markets in terms of valuations. President Trump aims to weaken the US dollar so adding an extra layer of currency risk on those funds.

I do IDECO via SBI.
The SBI Benefits website offers eMAXIS Slim 全世界株式(除く日本)(All Country excluding Japan)
You can complement that with eMAXIS Slim 国内株式(TOPIX)and/or the Nikkei 225 fund ニッセイ日経平均インデックスファンド.

If you want global bonds, they have
eMAXIS Slim 先進国債券インデックス which excludes Japan.
They also have a currency-hedged bond fund, I think.

These all have pretty low fees.
