Heads Up for Kindle Readers
If you have bought Kindle e-books, Amazon is about to change the way you "own" your books on February 26, 2025.

Re: Heads Up for Kindle Readers
Not sure if it still works but I used Calibre to download ebooks off my kindle (and remove DRM). If there's something on your kindle you can't get off, I recommend going that route.
Re: Heads Up for Kindle Readers
Too late for me, I threw away my ancient kindle, and downloading only works if you have a kindle associated with your account. I won't buy another ebook on Amazon again, though.
Re: Heads Up for Kindle Readers
Nope, needs to be an actual Kindle otherwise you can't remove the DRM.

That's the method recommended in the video. Note, however, that you need to install the DeDRM Tools plugin into Calibre in order to strip DRM.
Correct. You need to enter your Kindle device number into Calibre in order to strip the DRM.

Captain Oates, is that you?

Thanks for the heads up. I guess it means I'll need to look for alternatives (I hear Cobo is great, but I know nothing about them. Is there anyone around here who'd like to share some experiences?)
I might need to be careful — First, I think I should download my books because I own them, and I should leave Amazon due to their practice, and soon I might find myself moving to Linux and avoiding all proprietary software...
