Prestia Global Pass

Post by beanhead »

A question and a comment about this card/service.

Question:
I don't think I have ever used mine to get cash from an ATM overseas.
Is there a way to check to make sure my PIN is correct before I go, to make sure the card doesn't get eaten by an ATM?

Comment:
Do you think they meant Fall Back, by any chance?

What if my account balance runs low?
"GAIKA FULL BACK" will cover

This service allows you to make settlements by covering the full amount with your Yen Savings Account if the balance of the transacting foreign currency in your PRESTIA MultiMoney Foreign Currency Savings Account is insufficient. You will be able to use your card overseas without worrying about your foreign currency balance.

I think I may have answered my own question. I can just use the ATM in Japan (duh).

This account was basically set up to save some foreign currency for trips so I never touch it. The idea that i can withdraw money from it in Japan as well as use the 'global' functions never crossed my mind.

I want to say that the amazing thing about it is the free ATM withdrawals. I had to spend a good amount of time overseas during the holidays and when I withdrew from ATMs it would warn me about foreign ATM service charges (around 750jpy each use) but when I checked on the app, Prestia would reimburse me every single time.

Zeroshiki, they are supposed to charge for ATM withdrawal unless you have Prestia gold status which I no longer have. Can you report back whether you had the gold status while you were getting reimbursed for foreign ATM withdrawals?

Huh, that's surprising. I just checked their site and it does say Prestia Gold is required. No, I don't have Prestia Gold but the account is through my company so not sure if there's some arrangement there to get free withdrawals.
