Rakuten Card Tsumitate skipping January

Post by mikele3 »

Hi.
Early this month, I set up my wife NISA in Rakuten with a recurring 100,000yen purchase using her Rakuten card.
All went well, but it says the first purchase will be in Feb.

We moved 100,000yen to the account to fill the January allowance, but I can't figure hot how to do that ... :(

Do I need to cancel the card purchase once, setup a recurring cash purchase to buy in, then cancel that and set it up again with the card?
Can I use the bonus feature? if so, how?

Just when I thought I learned how to use that website :)

Yeah, credit cards make things more complicated, because credit cards have to take the payment a month in advance.

If you want to use your Jan allowance, sort of. I'm not sure about Rakuten but this is how it works with SBI.

1. Change the Tsumitate setting to cash, and to place the order tomorrow (maybe even the same day will work?).
2. Adter the order is placed automatically, change the Tsumitate setting back to card.

This should leave the existing cash order for Jan, and then it should make one in Feb using the card (which it will also deduct from the card in Jan).

Note that there is a cutoff time, around the 12th I believe. After that you won't be able to set up card payments for Feb either, only March.

Not when paying by card.

Hope those points are worth the inconvenience! πŸ™ƒ

thanks Adamu!

I did what you suggested.
Cash order can't be set to today, so, it'll be tomorrow.

The benefits are not just the points, but having my wife set up for saving a into NISA without (my) intervention for the foreseeable future ;)

OK, mission accomplished.

Rakuten suggested I switch from eMaxis Slim All Country to Rakuten All Country, of course.
Slightly cheaper and more points...
Looking at the retirewiki, the only noticeable difference is the amount of assets invested in it.
I guess it would also lock my wife into Rakuten, i.e. moving NISA to another broker in future might not be possible without selling first :?:

Opinions?

1. Consider the management. We chose Tawara and Emaxis Slim particularly due to the stellar management, track record and fee reduction history.

2. Consider what just happened with PayPay funds... I consider Rakuten management of a smilar quality.

....

Wait and see. Tawara Develped is a good fund, not worth switching yet imo.

Untested management team, higher real costs.

MUFJ Exmaxis Slim team is transparent, and has an amazing record. Still the easy choice IMO.

Some were cancelled, and refunded. Some were rolled into other trackers. Not ideal at all obviously...

PayPay πŸ€¦β€β™‚οΈ
I read PayPal and I was surprised I didn't hear anything.

"Not ideal" is a very polite way to put it ... and yes, it highlights the case for choosing a well funded and managed fund.

Is it correct to assume that the team managing Rakuten All Country and Rakuten Finance itself are to be evaluated separately?
Or simply put, do you think having investments in Rakuten Finance is riskier than Monex or SBI or ... ?

You're only asking these questions because Rakuten targeted you with a marketing campaign. That should tell you everything you need to know 🎯
