"The state pension will rise in line with average earnings, going up by 4.1% in April.
It means the full, new flat-rate state pension (for those who reached state pension age after April 2016) is expected to increase to £230.25 a week. That will mean a rise of £472 a year compared with now.
The full, old basic state pension (for those who reached state pension age before April 2016) is expected to go up to £176.45 a week - a rise of £363 a year compared with now."

No complaints from me.

At this rate, by the time I hit retirement age in 2046, the British pension will more than cover my lifestyle here in Japan.
(Provided the Japanese economy and yen doesn't somehow miraculously rebound in that time; highly unlikely given how Japan is now in a race to the bottom).

The NHS is a disaster.
You can throw all the money in the world at it and it is just a bottomless pit.
It isn't designed for the UK in 2024, and it needs some form of privitization, like the Japanese system

I wouldn't argue for privatisation, but hybridisation of the private and the public roles as in what we have in Japan.

I think the most important thing the UK should immediately do with the NHS is implement annual health checkups for over 40's. It would both improve patient outcomes and save money. It's much cheaper and easier and more effective to treat diseases in the early stages than late and catching issues early would be massively benefical. UK could learn from Japan on this.

Yes I did. and now marvel as I use humor to avoid "lively debate"..
Isn't net growth still under 1% the past few decades and surely upon the third generation the kids will be #childfree social media managers and influencers and we need to wait for the british emigrants to return to prop up the numbers! (Unless that's me because I'm not going back!)...

Most recent immigrants tend to do low skilled jobs. According to official figures low-income earners cost the country a net 150,000 pounds through their lifetimes, including NHS costs etc...Also, less than half of asylum seekers enter the job market, the rest depend on the State.

So unless you are talking about high-income earners I'm not sure how valid your argument is.
