the first one cant seem to make changes to the lump sum as one already paid..
will doing the cancel one mean that everything already invested will be kicked out as well?

and reluctant to press this one
If the bonus has already gone through, cancelling the tsumitate will simply cancel the ongoing monthly order.

Cancel the 100 yen ongoing order, and remake the tsumitate. You should be able to divide your remaining "contribution amount" over the remaining 3 or 4 applicable months (timing dependant) if nothing else. I am uncertain if it will also allow you to add a bonus once again, but you can confirm that pretty easily.

Hi everyone,

Sorry for hijacking this thread but I think it's a clarification question on the same subject.

I just setup a Tsumitate monthly 100K payment on Rakuten securities, which will start from end of next month (couldn't do before).

Reading this thread, I tried to modify my request to add a yearly 1M bonus for December, since that would max 2024 to 1.2M, but that got rejected because it's above the 1.2M/year limit.
I guess they simply consider that bonus + 12* monthly needs to be below 1.2M, regardless of how many months remains in the year.

Is there's a way to work around this and max this year out?
Would changing the monthly to 1000JPY with a 1.2M (-12000) bonus in November, then, after it's charged, change to a monthly 100K without bonus, work?
The site seems to accept it (I haven't validated yet), but I want to make sure I'll be able to switch back to regular payments for 2025, if I set that workaround for 2024.

Cheers.

Set any monthly amount, then add the bonus. You cannot contribute over 1.2m total, a year, to Tsumitate Nisa, period. Check for pending payments that are already being counted.

It will need to set a bank account sweep, or securities account sweep.

You may need to cancel your current settings, and remake them, if it will not let you modify them.

Probably because you're using a credit card. Using Money Bridge or the securities account balance should work fine this month.

I think you should set it to ¥1000/mo with a ¥1,198,000 bonus.
Then in November once the CC payment for Decemeber has been taken, update it to ¥100,000/mo with no bonus.

I'm not sure you can even use bonus payments with credit cards though - you can't on SBI at least.

The investment date is usually the following month, so you can end up missing out on the first month if you miss the cutoff date. You need to spend the time to understand it and make sure you don't get it wrong.

Thanks to the both of you!
I think you should set it to ¥1000/mo with a ¥1,198,000 bonus.
With ¥1,198,000, the request was rejected with "年間積立可能額(120万円)を超えています。積立金額をご確認ください。" but lowering the bonus to ¥1,188,000 (¥1.2M - 12 * ¥1,000) worked. The request was accepted.
Then in November once the CC payment for Decemeber has been taken, update it to ¥100,000/mo with no bonus.
Indeed, I'll try to do it next month and post an update if that worked, in case that's useful to others.

No credit card (I wish I could, to get miles!).
I had to use the "上記銀行以外をご利用の場合(ATM・銀行窓口・ネットバンキング)" section, because my main bank is SBI Shinsei and it's not supported by the easy integration options that Rakuten provides.
I could only chose the 8th and 24th of the month, for some reason.
I stopped trying to understand JP banks limitations, that's the path to madness :D .

Does anyone know how to add bonus payments to a Tsumitate NISA on SMBC?

I've been paying in less than 100,000 a month this year, and I thought it was possible to top it up manually with additional payments, but I couldn't find any option to do so on the SMBC website. Am I mistaken, or have I just missed something?

Following on my last post, in case that's useful to any future reader:
The previous settings (¥1,000 monthly and a ¥1,188,000 November bonus) were processed successfully and I was able to change them today to ¥100,000 monthly, which will be used from January, as I wanted.

The only annoying thing is that the amount is withdrawn from my bank account on the 14th of the month, arrives in Rakuten almost 10 days later and then it takes another few days for the assets to appear in my NISA account.
In total the whole thing took 12 days  ..
