For Brits: it's time to vote

The envelope says postage paid, but I am wondering if that includes Japan? Did you guys pay for the stamp? Or just post it as is. Just got it confirmed by the post office. No stamp required.

I decided to pay for registered post, for the peace of mind knowing it's arrived safe and sound (hopefully). I've been disenfranchised for > 20 years, so it's worth the little extra for me this time.

According to the tracking, it has left Japan but not yet arrived in the UK (both Japan Post and Česká pošta, sorry Royal Mail, agree on this), so I guess it's having a layover and maybe a mini beach-break somewhere sunny.

Well it's just arrived at Heathrow, after a long and grueling trek along the Silk Road. I hope it will be put on the early morning on the next post coach up Watling Street.

The Royal Mail tracking now says:

Delivered

Your item was delivered to your PO Box on ** 03-07-2024. **

so I hope that means it is actually where it should be.

I just checked the Royal Mail site again and discovered a dropdown section with more granular details which confirms it has indeed reached Tweedledum-on-the-Bypass.

As coincidence has it, I have Friday off so will enjoy events as they happen.

Glad it made it.
One thing I took great pleasure in watching was seeing my local area switch back. Wonderful to see Truss get her just dues, glad Mogg got spanked, and the veterans minister also losing his job, but had to feel sorry for a few Tory/labour moderates who could actually have been good.
Roll on to the next one.

I have not requested a vote this time - mostly because I see almost no difference between the policies of Starmer’s Labour or Sunak’s Tories.

On my ballot paper I had the options of socialist workers party, lib dems, greens, reform, and couple of other oddballs, in addition to the two main ones. At least it covers a wide spectrum of political views.
