Thanks for the reply.
I thought as much. I guess I had better apply for one then...

Please remember to turn off the auto-charge feature, as well. If you have cash in the account, you will also either need to spend it on one final tsumitate, or go through an ID approval course to cash it out.

That is right folks! Despite having a securities account, and credit card. You need another 5 day approval process with photos and id to cash it out. :!:

I guess the 50K cash + 50K card tuple still is good for those having the normal Rakuten Card (not platinum or gold), which has 0.5% back in points. I guess Rakuten Cash still is 1% (0.5% when charging the cash and 0.5% when buying the tsumitate), unless they have downgraded that part now.

I am actually thinking if I should get the Rakuten gold card and change from the current 50K cash + 50K card to Rakuten gold card 100K, which effectively would be 0.75% in points, but at the same time has an anual fee of 2,200 yen...

Any other one planning to change completely from 50K cash + 50K card to full Rakuten Card 100K?

(I also have the Monex one, which is 50K 1.1%, but from 50K to 70K gets downgraded to 0.9% and from 70K to 100K to only 0.45%, which makes 0.73% if you use 100K. The best one seems to be SBI + SMBC NL Gold, which offers 1% in points for 100K, unless you have the platinum, of course, which is 5% in points)

I am very looking forward to the day I can stop using that Rakuten Cash patchy solution...

That was only a temporary 5 month campaign until the end of 2022. Since 2023 for Cash it's been 0.5% for charging only, nothing for Tsumitate.

Just wanted to say thank you for sharing this information. Having the full tsumitate portion come out of my credit card just makes life that much simpler - the smidgen of points just being the icing on the cake.

Thanks Adamu,

I usually try to follow up on the credit card related points downgrades / upgrades, but I do not know why I did not do that with the RCash thing. Good we always have this forum to talk about it. I have just remove the "auto-charge" feature from RCash and receive the notification that my April contribution will be charged from 13-15 March. This will be my last on RCash. From tomorrow I will setup to use only credit card for Tsumitate, 100K a month. Now only 0.5% and wondering if I should upgrade for gold card to get a 0.75% (that would mean to have an extra 3,000 points VS a annual fee of 2,200 yen, except that upgrading will pay off the first year fee if I am not wrong. But who knows whether Rakuten would downgrade again the points granted for tsumitate...

Somehow it feels much cleaner to have only credit cards on tsumitate for all the brokers now :D

Slightly necroposting here,
but how about 100k through credit card on NISA Tsumitate and 50k through Rakuten cash on NISA growth portion (also setup as a tsumitate monthly purchase)? What would be the points return on this? Any documentation or simulator for Rakuten - NISA/Tsumitate connection?

Just checked the Monex card site and it seems they've cut back on the points for tsumitate to 1.1% up to 50k, 0.6% from 50k up to 70k and 0.2% from 70k and up. So 729 yen on a 100,000 yen tsumitate, or 0.729%? So a price of a Big Mac value set, more or less, in points... Well, better than nothing I guess!

It depends on what card you are using and what funds you are buying. Basically, you can get 1% points back if you use a Rakuten Premium card to invest 100000 per month (less for gold or standard) and 0.5% for Rakuten Cash. Also, if you buy designated Rakuten Funds you can get additional point rewards. Investing via Rakuten Securities also gives point up rewards on the Ichiba but I am not sure of the details.
