Moving outside of Japan
Re: Moving outside of Japan
That makes a lot of sense, since most if not all of the people I know with dual citizenship have a Japanese mom and an American (military) dad.

I'm just talking about my personal experiences; like I said, everyone I know has a Japanese mom and an American dad.

I know this is true (I understand that it is typically between a Japanese man living outside a major metropolis and a woman from China/Philippines/Korea) but I find it hard to remove my personal bias that the pairings I see in Roppongi are the dominant pattern. It is a good example of how different our everyday experience can be with reality for the country as a whole.Tsumitate Wrestler wrote: ↑Thu Feb 29, 2024 10:38 amYou do realize that most international marriages in Japan are between a Japanese man and a foreign woman, right?

In my neighborhood in Tokyo, I am one of the few "white" foreigners. Quite a few international couples. Hiroo/Roppongi will skew your perspective.TokyoWart wrote: ↑Fri Mar 01, 2024 6:36 amI know this is true (I understand that it is typically between a Japanese man living outside a major metropolis and a woman from China/Philippines/Korea) but I find it hard to remove my personal bias that the pairings I see in Roppongi are the dominant pattern.
