Investment trusts replicating VTI

Post by tofusoba14 »

Hello all,

I wanted to ask about a new fund that’s recently started and it seems it’s equivalent to VTI and has good low expense ratio.

So far I had seen only VOO emaxis fund that was quite famous, but I was looking for VTI one just to have better diversification.

The fund seems started recently, just around 3 months old.
Please let me know if it’s different than VTI

Thanks in advance

The funds will be slightly different. VTI uses the CRSP US total market as its index while eMaxis is using MSCI USA investable market. As discussed in this thread:

https://www.bogleheads.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=103727

Vanguard changed from using MSCI to using CRSP over a decade ago. Both the target indexes and the actual contruction of the funds (how often it rebalances, the extent to which it engages in security lending, who gets the profits from that lending, etc.) will differ. For an investor in Japan the tax treatment of dividends may also differ (which has been discussed here on a few threads). I would expect that the actual performance of these two funds is very close.

Thank you for the reply.

Based on it, I checked below fund replicated CRSP as you mentioned, and hence it replicates VTI with good low expense ratio
