Being a Tokyo city dweller, I have little regular need for a car, but on occasion do rent one and hit the highways.
Previously I remember having a Seiyu supermarket credit card and they also provided a ETC card together with it (saison something or other). But some time back I recall Seiyu stopped that card, and presumably I disposed of the ETC card.
Then the next time I went driving it was quite an annoyance having to stop and pay manually with cash at myriad tollgates along all the private roads the car Navi led me.
So, I want to get an ETC card again, for next time.
Is there some obvious GoTo option for ETC cards? Ideally I don’t want to pay for the privilege of having an ETC card, since I typically only use it once or twice a year. (Or can even the ETC cards be rented by car rentals?!)
ETC cards
Re: ETC cards
Call your credit card company, and ask them if they issue ETC cards.
If not, you'll need to get a credit card from a provider that does.
Prestia, SMBC, Rakuten (I think), Aeon, etc..
ETC Card is usually available as an option from the Car Rental Company, but they charge for the service.
