To add on to Tokyowart's message, we have the same situation. 23 years and the value of our house dropped from 48,000,000 to 17,000,000 yen, and it's a steel beam and cement construction. I think that wooden houses are worth even less after this amount of time. I think that the price of the land has risen a tad, but nothing to cheer about..
