Full UK State pension contributions not 35 years? Explanation.

Post by banders »

I had to make 37 years of contributions before I was entitled to a full UK pension. But there appears to actually be a reason...

Thanks banders, that explains it. I too had to contribute 37 years but was never quite sure why. Now we know :)

Thanks for sharing.
I think I am on track for 34/37 years in this case.

Might back pay three years so I can get the full 37 years.

In unrelated news, I see the Japanese government are probably going to increase the Japanese full pension term to 45 years from the current 40. :x

That is in order to increase the amount people can get, however. It is not 45 years for the same pension, but rather an extra five years of payments for an extra 12.5% :)
