So, we are already in December and I have not yet done anything about Furusato nouzei! I am still thinking about doing it, but maybe it is too late to deduce the taxes for 2019? Do any forum member know whether this is actually the case? I have never done it so far and am a bit confused about the procedure...
Thanks for any insight!

The are two deadlines: an earlier one if you want them to do your taxes for you, and a later one if you do them yourself.

Do "doing yourself", do you mean submit a 確定申告? If so I need to submit one anyway so I should probably go ahead and order some stuff...

Seems like it's the end of December. There is still plenty of time!

Thanks for the link! I also took a refresher of the related topics on the blog and forum. It seems like I cannot benefit from the automatic reporting since I will have to submit a 確定申告 anyway. I have one remaining question though:
Can you purcha...donate through different sites? For instance, I'd love to get myself a few Amazon gift cards (https://26p.jp/products/14452) but there are also a few items I'd like to get from Rakuten and benefit from the points.
Also, are there any particularly good deal that you know? The amazon card I linked above is 40% gift value (+3% if you read the fine read print due to a December campaign), so pretty good value. I'm not too interested in perishable items, more in gift cards.

Yes, you can purchase through different sites and also donate to different prefectures from same site. You will get a donation certificate for each donation which can be added up when you do your taxes.
Amazon themselves seem to be running some promotions related to Furusato,

And today I received my Amazon gift cards! Since the site mentioned that they could take up to 2 months to arrive I was expecting them by the end of February, so this is a nice surprise. Very smooth experience overall using 26p.jp. Now I just need to wait for the extra 3% given by the December campaign!

No, you pay a 2000 yen fee and get to choose a 'gift'. Depending on the gift you end up getting it can be a good value.greedisgood wrote: ↑Wed Jan 09, 2019 11:24 pm Is there any net tax savings when you contribute to furusato nouzei?

Looks like we won't be getting Amazon gift cards anymore:

Oyama-cho got a little bit more success than they expected...
Ben, if you are looking for ideas that could make a great article for the site.
