Stacking cash in your iDeco in preparation for naturalization was a really sharp move.

Good thinking.

I'm sure there is a lot of useful information that is not published about Naturalisation, especially in English. If you felt like documenting it for the benefit of others, edits to that wiki page would be very welcome. :)
I'll keep it in mind when I start the process, haha! You scratch my back, I scratch yours, n' all!
If I'm permitted to link external resources, I've found this blog to be quite insightful about the general process, though: https://www.turning-japanese.info/

There's actually some big inaccuracies on the Becoming Legally Japanese site! One reason is because it was mostly written 10+ years ago so alot of stuff has changed. Its still bar none the best English language resource for Japanese naturalisation online but keep that in mind when reading it.

Its been awhile but the most obvious one I remember is that for simplified naturalization through the spouse route, the 3 years requirement is actually just residence in Japan. On this page, Eido actually implies you need to be married those 3 years when the requirement is only 'marriage' and '3 years residence' (also, the other way to get simplified naturalization is now living in Japan for 1 year PLUS 3 years of marriage and not 5 years)

There's also alot of references to the ARC or opening up your entry/exit records to the MOJ which is now unnecessary because of the Zairyu Card system.

As I said, alot of it is just stuff being outdated because it was written 13 years ago.
