Good evening folks, Blind Lemon here. What is the situation with the tax reporting of a joint account overseas? I have always paid the tax here in Japan on any overseas investment myself - I have not involved my Japanese wife at all - however I have just received papers to fill in from my bank in Australia and they are asking for TINs (My Numbers)for both of us - which makes me wonder...

That is a really interesting question. As far as I know, Japan doesn't really have joint accounts so it is an interesting question as to how they will treat overseas ones.

Anyone else?
