Permanent Residency - how long did it take?
Re: Permanent Residency - how long did it take?
My application (Shinagawa office) has been submitted 10 months ago now... Haven't heard a single thing. Should I be worried and call the immigration office?
Re: Permanent Residency - how long did it take?
... and just as I was writing this message, a postcard was waiting in my mailbox asking me to come to the immigration office with a 8,000Y stamp. Sometimes just talking about things seems to be enough to make them move.

Mmm. How about that inheritance from a long lost relative that makes retirement saving unnecessary.
Congrats on your visa, N00bster.

Re: Permanent Residency - how long did it take?
Got mine yesterday, took 4 months (I applied using the points system, as I did not have 10 years continous, and was married less than 3 years)
RetireJapan highly recommending one to get this, was the final push I needed to go ahead and apply for this
So thanks!! for that

Do you mean the highly-skilled professional visa? Or eijuuken? If it's the former, be careful that it's conditional on your job and points, so could become non-permanent if your conditions change (although you also get the right to apply for full-on eijuuken).

I mean the eijuuken. Anyway thanks for the warning.
I believe with eijuuken, you can lose your job and it is still valid
