House Renovation Companies

Post by tofusoba14 »

Does anyone have any good recommendation of house renovation companies ? For example one i know is https://www.fujitahomes.com/

Also other related information, for example, "House loan from Shinsei bank provides x% discount with renovation company Y" would be really helpful to know.

Thanks in advance !

I second this. So many cowboys out there.
I need some rotten wooden posts and a beam replacing on my house.
I got a quote from a well-known renovation company : 900,000 yen.
I got a second quote from a local carpenter recommended by a friend : 200,000 yen.
The first company was trying to get me to replace wood with steel for "structural reasons". The dude they sent to give me a quote seemed shifty, too.

Ask around your friends for local carpenters/tradesmen.
This whole "word of mouth" thing seems way more prevalent and safer in Japan.

This link belongs to a family run business in Southern Yokohama, the owner is a big fan of German craftsmanship and materials. (Of course he mainly uses Japanese materials though).

He did a few small things before we moved in our new (used) apartment and later also a complete rebuild of a closet (material from company Wood one), with which I am very happy.

He may not be the cheapest though (I did not compare) and also tends to be very busy.

Then there is this company a friend used for a total renovation of a danchi in Yokohama, including major changes of the floor plan.

She had very specific wishes outside the norm and was very happy with the outcome.

There are probably many good ones out there, but these are the ones I know of.

Good Luck!
