If there’s a pay wall, search “ft Japan food”.
Where I live in Tokyo, I’ve not seen much inflation, at least not like I have expected. Produce is about the same, restaurants haven’t really moved prices (although Kura sushi is doing their second change already!).
Most of the article discusses food supply which has been a topic in the forum as well. Living in Tokyo, food and stuff just magically appears. Perhaps change is coming (finally).

It's on the news constantly. 6500 items (if I remember correctly) with announced price increases.

Although I too have not been affected that much, I was very surprised to see the 12 bagel pack at Costco go from ¥698 to ¥998 all of a sudden.
Re: File under frugal
And the coffee at Costco has gone from around 1900 yen to 2900 yen

Coffee is a different case, as it is traded as a commodity and faces different pressures. Currently yields have been hurt due to climate change.RetireJapan wrote: ↑Fri Sep 09, 2022 6:04 amNow THAT hurts. I basically live on their espresso roast beans

I’m too late! Was going to place a big online order this weekend. Better hurry up with my furosato orders as well I guess.RetireJapan wrote: ↑Fri Sep 09, 2022 6:04 amNow THAT hurts. I basically live on their espresso roast beans

Our commander in chief has been linking this in his Monday updates for the last few months. It is hit or miss.gnakarmi wrote: ↑Sun Sep 11, 2022 11:46 pmI don't know how everybody feels about jumping over the pay wall, but use this link to bypass the pay wallAx6isB wrote: ↑Fri Sep 09, 2022 3:04 am Financial times seems to believe a broader consumer price increase is coming Oct 1

The only paid service I am currently using is the Economist, and the NYT. So feel free to PM me if your trying to access a specific article.

For websites which it can bypass, it performs the task pretty well.
But for some sites, the wall is too tall for a 12 ft ladder.
