cheap sim in japan

can anyone advise what is the cheapest way to get a phone in japan for a month for people coming from uk?
presume getting a diff sim card?

I am not sure which service works well in Japan, but, if the phone allows, I would search for an eSim instead of the physical thing ...

I have been using KeepGo when traveling to EU or the USA for a few years now.

I used Arialo when travelling recently, they are a global e-SIM provider, and I know they have a Japan service as well. I don't know if the rates are the cheapest per se, but they are quite reasonable.

sorry if this is a stupid question-but if you use a different esim or sim card ,how does this effect your tel no ,line accts etc..can you still operate as normal?

if you have one of the latest iPhones (from 11 onward I think) you get a lot of flexibility (down to choosing which contact uses which line for either calls or msgs or both)
I bet some or many Androids do offer similar options.
