I was at the store earlier, bill was ¥1244. I had a 1, a 10, and 243 yen in change. Had to crack the 10... :(

That would definitely be a PayPay or Suica purchase for me.
Aiming to retire at 60 and live for a while longer. 95% index funds (eMaxis Slim etc), 5% Japanese dividend stocks.

SMBC has free intra-bank transfer. and its very convenient through their mobile app.
If you can switch things up, give it a try.
I'd love to but.......not worth the hassle. I'll just swallow what I learnt, and keep it for next time.
