I`m currently in the midst of setting up "my financial future" and also very much thanks to the useful resources at the website got my iDeco and Tsumite Nisa going and currently starting to move forward with Junior NISA for my kids and considering opening NISA account for my wife.
I have one questions in regards to the current market trends. I often see news about market being in a slump and even S&P500 falling down to a lowest level in two years just today.
I do keep an eye on eMAXIS Slim 米国株式(S&P500)as one of the options for JUNIOR NISA, but the performance does not seem to match the news from USA even with S&P500 in name and on the other hand, seems to be even trending upwards:

Is this connected to the currency rate issue or is there something else I`m missing?
S&P500 vs eMAXIS Slim 米国株式(S&P500)
Re: S&P500 vs eMAXIS Slim 米国株式(S&P500)
The underlying investments are the same (ie. the SP500) so the differences are due to the currency it's denominated in. This very question was asked by someone else recently, more responses here: viewtopic.php?t=2376
