Is there a roughly accepted value needed for retirement in Japan?
I have heard numbers like $1.5-2 mil for USA (not sure if that is true or not), but it got me thinking about what that would be in Japan.
Do you know this number or do any of you have a personal estimate you work with?
Thanks in advance.

I'd forgotten about that, and as for my comments there I think I'd write the same thing today (wife is also retired now).RetireJapan wrote: ↑Mon Apr 11, 2022 6:46 am The number is: enough money to meet your needs.

Re: Estimated money needed for retirement
The rough number might be 20 times your Annual Expenses at Retirement, which might be similar to your Annual Expenses now, or maybe different.
