Hello everyone
I am new to investing in Japan and in general. I have opened an account with SBI and want to create my portfolio there for the time being. I already have NISA (although I am thinking of changing my account) and don’t want to start an IDeCo account before I get my permanent residency.
I have started to make one time investments in ETF in my home country Germany. My portfolio there consists of the usual MSCI ACWI, some extra EM Asia and some Clean Energy so far.
For my Japanese account, I was thinking about mainly investing in the MSCI ACW or MSCI World + EM (typical 70:30) until I have a better understanding of investing in general.
I was wondering which ETFs you guys would suggest or if you have recommendations of some blogs or pages where I can find some kind of comparison? I am not fluent in business Japanese so it is difficult for me to figure out which are the best kind of pages to look for.
Also
A Japanese friend recommended the FANCL stocks, and I am thinking of adding Rakuten and DAIKIN as my first stocks. If anyone holds those, what are your experiences?
Sorry for so many newbie questions..

Japanese Trust (Mutual funds) are often a better deals as they are more tax efficient, accumulating funds. (No dividends/taxable event).
This is a board favorite MSCI ACWI fund:

Emaxis Slim offers many similar funds at rock bottom rates, with high inflows.

............
A. Why wait on IDeco?
B. Capital gains tax in Germany is 25% right? It is only 20% in Japan. Does this affect your strategy?
C. That is a pretty massive overweighting of EM. What is your reasoning?
Single Japanese Equities -> No comment, I only deal with Index funds.

Re: Starter Portfolio - which is the best MSCI World / ACWI ETF?
In the limited time I spend investigating individual JP stocks, I couldn’t wrap my head around how they reported financials. I couldn’t find the transparency that I could in US listed stocks. Perhaps it was the resources I was using at the time but I’ve found more than enough options in the emaxis family of ETFs to be happy.
