World Sports & News Live TV Streaming
I recently relocated to Japan and need some recommandations in regards with in Japan operated TV broadcasting companies providing live streaming of Sports "mainly from abroad" ( Premier League, International Soccer, NBA, MMA, Tour de France, Tennis, etc..) and News from abroad ( Fox News, TV5 Monde, BBC and more). Any advice would be appreciated. I am residing in Kawazu (Shizuoka Prefecture). ARIGATO!

DAZN has a good soccer selection, but is fairly limited otherwise. Reasonably priced at under 2000 yen a month, cheaper if you do annually. I signed up for the one month trial and found the stream quality was good.berkaz6370 wrote: ↑Tue Jan 18, 2022 11:38 am I recently relocated to Japan and need some recommandations in regards with in Japan operated TV broadcasting companies providing live streaming of Sports "mainly from abroad" ( Premier League, International Soccer, NBA, MMA, Tour de France, Tennis, etc..) and News from abroad ( Fox News, TV5 Monde, BBC and more). Yeah, DAZN and WOWOW are the premium channels needed for the big sporting events.
DAZN is online. WOWOW available with cable TV or satellite TV (Sky Perfect) as an optional channel, and also now purely online if you don't want cable/satellite.
For news channels in English, again a cable or satellite package.
Costs can add up, and packaged channels change as well, so be careful.
I have used both Sky Perfect and JCOM in the past. Now I make do with a yearly DAZN package for sport and Netflix.
No English news in there. For that, a VPN may be the best bet (NORD VPN etc).

Aiming to retire at 60 and live for a while longer. 95% index funds (eMaxis Slim etc), 5% Japanese dividend stocks.

Re: World Sports & News Live TV Streaming
I found this site that may help (it is all in Japanese, though)
https://selectra.jp/ストリーミング/guides/サービス比較/スポーツ
For sports, DAZN is by far the best choice, I think.
They have a very good selection, and many of the streams even have English commentary on the sub channel (in contrast to the HORRIBLE Japanese commentators for soccer.)
They also have Baseball, F1, Tennis, NFL. But unfortunately it is pretty much it.
However major events like the Olympics or the Soccer WC are still controlled by the TV stations so you will may not be watching them on online services
(but they are usually available on packs on paid cable/satelite TV).
BUT, I must say that the online broadcasting of the Tokyo Olympics was really amazing through gorin.jp, and free.
(I think it was exclusive to Japan but almost all the events were live with English commentary, even some which were on TV at the same time)
I'm not sure how it will be the Qatar WC transmission this year though...
As far as I can tell, the fight for broadcasting rights is still going on.
For news, HULU has BBC, CNN and TV5Monde. Some TVs such as Al Jazeera allows you to watch online for free from Japan. For others I think you will need a VPN, though

I would pay large sums of money to subscribe to a channel that carried cricket.

I haven’t used it but regret not getting it for the Ashes just to see Warner getting a pair.
