Highly skilled visa to PR Query

Post by tofusoba14 »

As you may know, japan has the point calculation sheet based on which one can qualify as highly skilled professional and later on apply for PR on fast track basis.
Under this point calculation sheet, there is a criteria to get points based on age, as i have attached in the screenshot. Up to 29 years of age has "15 points" and between 30-34 has "10 points"

Now my question is, i qualify for 80 points consequently for 2021 February and and will be the same for 2022 February. However my 30th Birthday is in March 2022, which means from March 2022 onwards i fall under the category of "30-34 age group" (5 points reduced).

So If i apply PR based on 80 points on 1st of February 2022 itself, quoting the point calculation sheet, i need to be 29 years "At the time of filing of the application", I should not have a problem qualifying for the PR right ? even thought PR application takes 6+ months to process

I understand my question is bit complex, but any help or suggestion would be appreciated.

I made a similar transition right around age 50 so I don’t think that makes a big difference.

Get yourself a 1M pay rise, that'll solve the ambiguity :D

My understanding is that you need to have maintiained 80 points for a year at the time of application, so I think you'll be fine. But it wouldn't be a bad idea to get yourself a few more points if that's possible, just in case. If they did surprisingly reject you for that reason, you could wait 2 years and re-apply with 75 points on the 3-year route anyway.
