Investing for Dividends (UK Shares)

Post by LordFerret »

I am looking for some advice on investing long-term for dividends. Some of the stocks that I am interested (UK) in are listed in the USA as ADRs. Is this a good strategy? It seems that a % of the dividend payment is taxed in the USA. I have an SBI Shoken account and unfortunately, UK-listed stocks can't be purchased directly. Thank you

Are you from US, UK, or other?

How long have you been in Japan?

I guess irrelevant for you, but for US persons with a US acct, UK does not tax dividends. So versus some euro names that do have withholding, UK divs come thru in full. Eg, BP, BTI, and so on.
