Why am I asking this:
Looking to buy a house, but I don't have PR. I have heard some places are more or less accommodating than others. (Including that Mizuho will apparently do home loans to non-PR holders, but they will cap the loan term at 15 years!
Now with the new poll functionality, I wanted to check on a number of anecdotal stories about home loans and PR.

I got a loan without PR from one of the megabanks. Key was that I had applied for PR, so they felt that gave me enough credibility!
One branch of the bank rejected me, another branch a few miles away accepted me...bank managers have targets as well, and may make decisions depending on their monthly/ quarterly numbers.
So, be flexible, be prepared for a knock-back or two.
