How Much Rent you pay

Post by concerned »

Hi,
Guess with questions about Occupation and how much paid for a Car.
Thought I would ask this one.
I am paying 180,000 for a Terrace house in Yokohama area including car parking. We previously lived in a second floor apartment but our neighbour downstairs complained about our 2 year old daughter being noisy, so decided to pay a bit more for some privacy and peace of mind...

Maybe you might want to rework this question as a poll thread?

I think that since we all are living in different cities and have different incomes, absolute numbers are of little value.
I would be more curious to know what part of other people family income goes to rent/mortgage.
In our case the rent is only 9%, but it will be a double of that (if not more) after we take a mortgage.

Assuming housing costs = rent ;)

Mortgage 30,000 yen
Manshon fees 20,000 yen
Insurance and property tax 10,000ish

68m2, 3LDK, 3rd floor, next to station and expressway exit.

House, paid off. We pay the property/fixed asset tax as a yearly lump sum, since it's just over ¥50,000. Parking for our two cars is included, can squeeze in three more if need be.

one room 13sqm ¥40,000 (station 5 min walk)
2 LDK 55sqm ¥55,000 (no trains, but 2 car parking)
4 LDK 80sqm ¥85,000 (30 min walk to station, ¥90,000 w/parking)

House 200sqm (50 min walk to station, was ¥80,000 but now paid off). Property tax I think around ¥120,000/yr (that includes the lot next to us which we use for a garden and parking.

Housing has always been cheap relative to income. I am not one to go out more than once or twice a month, so I have no problem being far from a station. Most of the time over the last 30 years I could bike/walk to work.

If you don’t mind my asking, what is your homeowners insurance and approximate electric/gas costs on this?
