And it's making me want to hold out on investing. 109 JPY per USD? A month ago it was like 103. We just lost 7%ish purchasing power and it was AMERICA that printed trillions of dollars over the past few months, ughhhh.

Re: The JPYUSD rate sucks right now
I thought of buying some dollars back when it was 103, didn't expect it to go this far. Missed opportunity.
Re: The JPYUSD rate sucks right now
When I arrived 25 years ago it much higher, up around 125. I sent money to the US anyway, but as the yen got stronger I developed my rule of thumb. Generally, over 100 and I hold yen, under 100 and I buy USD. I may have fudged that a bit and bought up to 105 at times.
I also tend to use my USD credit cards more when the yen is over 110.
Looking at this chart (see link), you can see the huge range, from 150 to 75, but the last 4 years have been relatively stable.
I am actually surprised to see it has only been under 100 for about 6 years out of the last 30.
